How it Works

The X5 has a clever PCB module which updates the points of reference for a vehicles throttle mapping. Throttle Lag is added by manufacturers for a number of reasons including fuel economy. The HIKEit X5 maintains the standard parameters of your vehicle; however, introduces a sharper throttle curve (or smoother when in 4x4 Eco mode) and reduces the “dead zone” in your cars accelerator pedal.

Hikeit Mode

HIKEit’s Performance mode (with 9 level settings) is not for the ‘Sunday driver’. HIKEit setting 1 is classified as intense while setting 7-9 is like ‘launch mode’. Touching the mode button while in any mode will activate ‘Over-Take mode’ that will instantly put the X5 into HIKE IT Mode setting 9.

Sport/Tow Mode

HIKE IT's Sport/Tow mode (with 10 level settings) is a fun way to get around without the adrenalin boost of HIKE IT mode. It's perfect when towing anything and will adjust perfectly to the application at hand.

Eco/4X4 Mode

Economy Mode (E) Economy mode has 10 settings that reduce the response from the pedal which will improve fuel economy and with a dampened response it can be particularly handy in situations such as driving off road, towing, beach driving etc.

Transmission Specific Settings

The HIKE IT X5 sits between the pedal and your car's ECU to intercept the signal and process it in order to quicken the response time. The X5 has individual setting based on you car's transmission to tune the signal further while maintaining the original feel of an Auto or Manual Transmission.

Auto Brightness Adjustment

Built into the face of the HIKE IT X5 is a clever Ambient Light Sensor which will adjust the brightness of the blue display light so you can see the settings perfectly in day light and you won't be blinded at night time.

I love this little controller. Au mode aka IQ mode is my fav mode. It really is set and forget. Until you mash the gas lol. Fun fun!

It actually works!

I have a 2016 Jeep JKU that has an absolute horrendous throttle lag from the factory. Being a 6 speed, this cause major problems trying to take off on steep streets. I didn’t even know throttle controllers existed before I came across this one on a YouTube video.

I don’t need anything fancy so I only ordered the X5 model and let me tell you, it has more than enough options for me. I wanted something that I could set and forget. The eco-mode is downright hilarious because even if you floor it, the Jeep is less than lackadaisical. I tried it in the Hike IT mode and wild comical, it would be unrealistic for daily driving. You could probably breathe on the pedal and it would put it at 5000 RPMs. The sweet spot is in the sport mode. I put it all the way up to nine and then went down from there until it felt like a normal old school throttle cable. I feel like this thing brought new life to my daily driver and I would never want to go back. I can’t recommend this thing enough! Unlike the norm, I mounted mine underneath the dash next to the gas pedal because I like the clean look of the factory. Plus I don’t plan to change it on the fly. Absolutely love it. Highly recommended!

An absolute must have

Not bad!

Review is for a 2017 Ram 1500 Hemi 5.7 with 3.92 axle. It's a good controller especially for the price. I only have 2 small complaints. The settings are very touchy to the point where anything above sport 3 is pretty much unusable so it doesn't really allow for fine tuning. Also, I'd like to see a unit like this with 2 knobs/dials instead of push buttons. Aside from that, it's still a good unit for the price I paid with the Xmas deal. Eco mode works for snow and off road driving but 9 in Eco is the least responsive, contrary to what a HikeIt rep told me.
